Daily Journey: Day 146
Dedication Shows Up When It Costs You
Scripture (ESV)
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” — Colossians 3:23
Dedication is not just showing up when the work matters to you. It is staying personally invested when the work becomes inconvenient.
That is where it gets tested. When the task takes longer than expected. When people do not appreciate the effort. When the result is not immediate. When you have to give more attention than you wanted to give.
Dedication means the quality of your effort is not determined by how much applause is in the room. You do the work carefully because it has been entrusted to you, and because God is present in work other people may never notice.
This is different from faithfulness. Faithfulness is steady obedience over time. Dedication is the wholeheartedness you bring to the responsibility while you are in it.
Why this matters
If dedication disappears when the work becomes inconvenient, then comfort is still setting the terms. But when you work heartily before God, the task receives your best even when nobody sees it.
Reflection
Where has inconvenience started lowering the quality of what you are giving?
