Daily Journey: Day 94

You Stayed Aware

Scripture (ESV)

“Therefore stay awake—for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.” — Matthew 24:42

There’s a difference between drifting through your day and actually being aware of where you are and what’s happening. Most people drift more than they realize. They move from one thing to the next without ever really paying attention.

But when something begins to shift, you start noticing more. Not just what’s happening around you, but what’s happening in you. You catch things earlier. You feel the change before it fully plays out.

That’s watchfulness. Not anxiety. Not tension. Just a steady awareness that you’re not asleep to what’s happening. You’re present enough to see it as it unfolds.

And when that awareness is anchored in God, it doesn’t create pressure—it creates steadiness. You’re not trying to control everything. You’re just not missing what matters.

Why this matters

If you move through life unaware, you’ll constantly react too late. But when you begin to stay watchful before God, you start to recognize what’s happening early enough to respond differently.

Reflection

Are you drifting through your day—or are you actually paying attention to what’s unfolding?

Word of the Day

Watchfulness: A steady awareness of what is happening without drifting or becoming unaware.

“Therefore stay awake…” — Matthew 24:42 (ESV)
