Daily Journey: Day 95
You Were Ready
Scripture (ESV)
“Be sober-minded; be watchful…” — 1 Peter 5:8
There’s a kind of readiness that doesn’t come from urgency—it comes from being grounded. You’re not rushing, not reacting, not trying to stay ahead. But you’re also not caught off guard.
You’re present. You’re aware. And because of that, when something happens, you don’t scramble. You don’t need to. You’re already where you need to be.
That’s what alertness looks like when it’s rooted in reality. Not tension. Not anxiety. Just a clear, steady awareness that you’re not asleep to what’s going on.
And when this is grounded in God, it’s not something you’re manufacturing. You’re not trying to stay sharp all the time. You’re living in a way that keeps you aligned with what is already true. And from that place, you’re ready.
Why this matters
If you’re constantly caught off guard, you’ll live reactively. But when you’re alert in a steady, grounded way before God, you begin to respond with clarity instead of scrambling under pressure.
Reflection
Do you find yourself reacting after things happen—or are you present enough to respond as they unfold?
