Daily Journey: Day 194
Unbelief Can Sound Very Christian
Scripture (ESV)
“Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God.” — Hebrews 3:12
Unbelief is easy to picture as someone rejecting God outright. Hebrews makes the issue more uncomfortable because the warning is aimed at people who already know the language of faith.
You can believe that God provides and still run your life as if everything depends on you. You can say prayer matters while making every important decision before you ever stop to pray. None of that means your faith is fake. It means there may be places where what you confess hasn’t reached the way you actually live.
Leadership exposes those gaps because pressure forces things to the surface. When the stakes rise, whatever you really trust starts showing up in your decisions. That’s not something to hide from. It’s something to pay attention to.
God isn’t trying to catch you saying the wrong thing. He’s bringing your actual life into agreement with what you already say is true.
Why this matters
Unbelief isn’t only a statement about God. Sometimes it shows up in the way we live when trusting Him would cost us control.
Reflection
Where does your life operate as though something you believe about God isn’t really dependable?
Word of the Day
