Daily Journey: Day 79
God Shows Things — But Not All at Once
Scripture (ESV)
“Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.” — Luke 24:45
⸻
There have been moments where something in Scripture or life just clicked.
Not because I figured it out, but because it felt like it was shown to me. Like something I had read before suddenly carried weight I didn’t see the first time.
That’s illumination.
And it doesn’t happen on demand.
You can’t force it, but you can be in position for it. Staying in the Word, staying present, staying honest — and over time things begin to open up in ways they didn’t before.
I’ve also had the opposite happen. Reading something and it just feels flat. Not because it is, but because I’m not in a place to see it yet.
That’s humbling.
Because it reminds you that understanding isn’t just effort. It’s something God gives as He opens your eyes over time.
⸻
Why this matters
If you think everything depends on your ability to figure things out, you’ll miss what God is trying to show you. Illumination reminds you that seeing clearly is something received, not just achieved.
⸻
Reflection
What might God be trying to show me right now that I haven’t slowed down enough to see?
⸻
Word of the Day
Illumination — when God opens your eyes to understand what was already there.
