Daily Journey: Day 192
Questions Don’t Cancel Faith
Scripture (ESV)
“I believe; help my unbelief!” — Mark 9:24
There are things I believe deeply that I still don’t fully understand. I don’t think that makes faith weak. I think it makes us human. We are finite people trying to understand a God who is not.
The problem comes when we think admitting doubt means we have already failed. So we hide the question and keep repeating answers we’re not sure have reached us yet. That usually doesn’t make the question disappear. It just pushes it somewhere private.
The father in Mark 9 does something better. He tells Jesus the truth. He believes, and there is still unbelief mixed into that belief. Jesus doesn’t need him to clean up the sentence first.
Doubt can move in two directions. It can become an excuse to keep God at a distance, or it can become an honest question brought toward Him. The question itself doesn’t decide the direction. What you do with it does.
Why this matters
Faith doesn’t require pretending you have no questions. It requires knowing where to bring them when they come.
Reflection
What question have you been carrying privately because you thought faith meant you shouldn’t have it?
Word of the Day
Doubt: Honest uncertainty that can either move toward God in trust or away from Him in resistance.
