Daily Journey: Day 191

Restlessness Makes You Move Before You Need To

Scripture (ESV)
“It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.” — Lamentations 3:26

I don’t like waiting when I think something should be moving. Most leaders don’t. When things slow down, we start wondering what needs fixed, who needs called, or what decision needs made. Sometimes that instinct is useful. Other times we’re just uncomfortable because nothing is happening on our timetable.

Restlessness makes movement feel safer than waiting. You can convince yourself that doing something is automatically better than doing nothing, even when God hasn’t actually asked you to move. I’ve made decisions before simply because sitting still felt harder than making a choice. Looking back, the problem wasn’t that I lacked options. I lacked patience.

Lamentations says it is good to wait quietly for the Lord. That doesn’t mean you become passive. It means you stop assuming your urgency is the same thing as God’s direction. There are seasons when faithfulness looks like action, and there are seasons when faithfulness means not forcing something before its time.

Why this matters
Restlessness can make you leave good ground because you’re tired of waiting for fruit. Learning to stay before God keeps impatience from pretending to be leadership.

Reflection
Where are you tempted to move simply because waiting has become uncomfortable?

Word of the Day
Restlessness: The inner agitation that makes waiting feel unsafe and unnecessary movement feel productive.
