Commitment Starts When It Gets Old

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” — Hebrews 10:23
Commitment is easy to talk about in the beginning. Everything is clear. The energy is high. The purpose feels close. You know why you started.
Then the newness wears off. The work gets repetitive. Progress slows down. The cost becomes clearer. That is usually where commitment finally becomes visible.
Commitment is not refusing to ever change direction. Sometimes faithfulness requires change. But it does mean you do not abandon something just because the emotion that started it is gone. A person who can only move when inspired will spend their life restarting.
Hebrews gives commitment somewhere solid to stand: God is faithful. Your ability to remain does not come from keeping yourself emotionally charged. It comes from remembering who made the promise.
Why this matters
If commitment depends on excitement, you will keep leaving before roots have time to grow. But when your commitment rests on God’s faithfulness, you learn how to stay.
