Learning to See Morally

Scripture (ESV)
“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness…” — Isaiah 5:20

Perception showed up earlier in the journey as part of learning how you see reality. That was important, because a lot of what we call reality is actually interpretation. We needed to slow down and admit that we do not always see clearly.

But now perception needs to go deeper. This is not just about noticing things more accurately. This is about moral perception. Learning to see good as good, evil as evil, drift as drift, wisdom as wisdom, and foolishness as foolishness. That sounds simple until you realize how often we rename things to make them easier to live with.

We call avoidance “peace.” We call control “leadership.” We call compromise “being realistic.” We call cowardice “wisdom.” We call impulse “authenticity.” And once we rename something long enough, we stop seeing it for what it is.

God does not give us truth so we can decorate our opinions. He gives truth so our perception can be healed. Moral perception is the ability to see reality under God’s judgment, not our preferences. And that kind of seeing will disturb us before it settles us, because it names what we have been trying to soften.

Why this matters
If your moral perception is dull, you will slowly make peace with things God is exposing. But when God sharpens your perception, you begin to see drift earlier and call things by their right name.
