Daily Journey: Day 83

You Saw It Happen

Scripture (ESV)

“Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” — Proverbs 4:23

There’s a moment that starts showing up when you’ve been doing this long enough. You don’t just pause, and you don’t just think—you actually see it happening while it’s happening. The shift in your tone. The tightening in your chest. The frustration rising. The urge to say something you know isn’t right.

And the strange part is, it doesn’t feel like a mystery anymore. You’re watching it in real time. Almost like you stepped half a pace outside of yourself and can see the pattern as it unfolds. Not after the fact. Not when it’s over. Right in the middle of it.

But what’s becoming clearer is that you’re not just seeing yourself—you’re seeing yourself before God. That changes the weight of the moment. It’s no longer just awareness. It’s exposure. Not in a condemning way, but in a clarifying one. What’s happening in you is being brought into the light of what is actually true.

That’s observation, and it’s a turning point. Because now you can’t say, “I didn’t know.” You did know. You saw it. And more than that, you saw it in light of something greater than your reaction. The question now isn’t whether you’re aware. It’s whether you’ll stay aligned with what you’re being shown.

Why this matters

If you can see your patterns but treat them like neutral observations, nothing will change. But when you recognize that what you’re seeing is being revealed in light of God’s reality, it creates responsibility. You’re no longer just reacting—you’re being invited to respond differently.

Reflection

When you notice something in yourself in real time, do you treat it as information—or as something God is bringing into the light?

Word of the Day
