Daily Journey: Day 77

You Start to Feel What You Didn’t Notice Before

Scripture (ESV)

“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.” — Hebrews 3:15

There’s a difference between being aware and being sensitive.

Awareness notices what’s happening. Sensitivity feels it.

And if I’m honest, there are times I can tell something is off, but I don’t stay with it long enough to actually feel it. I move past it. Push through it. Keep going.

But when you slow down, sensitivity starts to increase. You notice tone quicker. You feel conviction earlier. You pick up on things you used to miss or ignore.

That can be uncomfortable.

Because now you can’t pretend you didn’t see it.

Sensitivity isn’t weakness. It’s clarity at a deeper level. It’s your inner life not being numbed out or rushed past. And the more you practice awareness, the more sensitive you become to what’s actually happening inside you.

Which means you can respond sooner instead of later.

Why this matters

If you lose sensitivity, you start drifting without feeling it. And when you finally notice, you’re already further off than you thought.

Reflection

Where have I been feeling something… but choosing to move past it?

Word of the Day

Sensitivity — the ability to feel and respond to what’s happening internally without numbing or ignoring it.
