Daily Journey: Day 26
God Does Not Rush
“The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.” — Psalm 145:8 (ESV)
We often project our urgency onto God.
Because we feel pressure, we assume He does too. Because we rush, we imagine He must be behind schedule. Because we fear delay, we interpret slowness as absence.
But Scripture reveals something very different.
God does not rush.
He is never late.
Never hurried.
Never scrambling to catch up.
God’s slowness is not neglect — it is intentionality.
He moves deliberately because He is forming people, not managing timelines. He works patiently because His purposes are deeper than immediate outcomes.
This challenges us.
We live in a culture of acceleration. Faster answers. Faster results. Faster fixes. And when God does not match our pace, we can become frustrated or disillusioned.
But God’s work is not diminished by time.
In fact, time is one of His primary instruments.
God’s slowness teaches us to wait without despair, to obey without visible results, and to trust without immediate reassurance. It reshapes our expectations and retrains our hearts.
God is not anxious about progress.
He is faithful to completion.
Why This Matters
When we assume God should rush:
• impatience grows
• doubt creeps in
• obedience becomes conditional
When we trust His timing:
• faith steadies
• hope deepens
• endurance strengthens
God’s pace is not a problem to fix.
It is a reality to trust.
Reflection for Today
Where have I been expecting God to move faster than He has?
What might He be forming in me through His patience?
Process shapes freedom.
