Daily Journey: Day 209
Pressure Shows You What’s Already There
Scripture (ESV)
“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed…” — 2 Corinthians 4:8
Pressure gets blamed for a lot of things. Sometimes rightly. But pressure often reveals more than it creates.
You can look steady when nothing important is being threatened. Then the deadline moves, the money gets tight, or a decision carries more weight than usual. Suddenly things start coming out of you that were easier to hide before.
That can actually be useful if you are willing to pay attention. Pressure can show you where fear is still strong. It can expose impatience you thought was gone. It may show you that something you believed was settled is still fragile.
Paul does not pretend pressure had no effect on him. He simply refuses to let the pressure define the whole story.
Why this matters
Pressure can become a kind of mirror. What comes out under strain can show you where God still wants to do deeper work.
Reflection
What has recent pressure shown you about yourself?
Word of the Day
Pressure: External weight that exposes what is carrying authority and stability inside a person.
