Daily Journey: Day 158

Order Is Something You Receive

Scripture (ESV)

“The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.” — Genesis 2:15

Earlier, order had to be separated from control. That was important. Order creates space for life to work rightly. Control tries to force everything to serve the person in charge.

Now we need to go underneath that. Order didn’t begin with us. Order is part of God’s design.

Before Adam built anything, he was placed somewhere. He received a world he didn’t create, a role he didn’t invent, boundaries he didn’t get to define, and work that already had meaning because God gave it.

That changes leadership. You’re not designing reality from scratch. You’re receiving people, limits, responsibilities, resources, bodies, time, and callings that already belong inside God’s world. Your job isn’t to make everything serve your preferred system. Your job is to steward what He designed with wisdom.

Some disorder comes from ignoring design. We push beyond limits. We put people in the wrong places. We build systems around ego. We treat rest like weakness and human beings like machines. Then things start breaking, and we act surprised.

Why this matters

When you ignore God’s design, even efficient systems can deform people. But when leadership receives His order, work, limits, responsibility, and care can begin fitting together rightly.

Reflection

Where are you trying to impose your preference instead of receiving God’s design?

Word of the Day
