Reverence Puts Weight Back Where It Belongs

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom…” — Proverbs 9:10

Reverence is hard to recover in a casual age. We are trained to make everything light. Holy things become common. Weighty things become useful. Eternal things become content. Even God can become something we talk about, post about, quote, brand, and still not actually fear.

That is a dangerous place to live.

Reverence puts weight back where it belongs. It reminds us that God is not an accessory to our lives. He is not a concept we use or a resource we pull out when life gets heavy. He is the Lord. That sentence alone should slow us down.

And reverence does not push us away from Him. It teaches us how to come near rightly. This is not distorted fear that makes you hide from God. It is holy weight that keeps you from treating Him casually. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom because it puts reality back in order.

A life without reverence eventually becomes shallow, even if it stays busy with spiritual things. But when reverence returns, worship gets heavier, obedience gets clearer, speech gets cleaner, and decisions start happening before the face of God again.

Why this matters

If reverence fades, you will start treating God as light while giving heavy weight to lesser things. But when reverence forms, your life begins to recover proper weight, proper order, and proper fear before the Lord.
