Daily Journey: Day 97

You Were Already Positioned

Scripture (ESV)

“So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:6

There’s a kind of readiness that doesn’t come from rushing to get prepared. It comes from already being in the right place before anything happens. You’re not scrambling, not trying to catch up, not reacting after the fact. You’re steady.

Most of the time, people think readiness means being fast. Quick reactions, quick decisions, quick movement. But that kind of readiness is usually just controlled urgency. It looks sharp, but it’s still reactive.

Real readiness feels different. It’s quieter. You’re already aware, already grounded, already aligned. So when something comes, you don’t need to shift into gear—you’re already there.

And if God is the source of reality, then readiness isn’t something you manufacture. It’s something you live into. You’re not trying to prepare for every possible outcome—you’re staying aligned with what is already true. And from that place, you’re ready for what comes.

Why this matters

If your readiness depends on reacting quickly, you’ll always feel a step behind. But when you live grounded before God, you begin to respond from stability instead of scrambling to find it.

Reflection

Do you rely on quick reactions—or are you living in a way that keeps you ready before things happen?
