Cutting Through The Noise
Scripture (ESV)
“But one thing is necessary.” — Luke 10:42
Life gets crowded fast. Not just with bad things. Good things can crowd you too. Responsibilities, opportunities, needs, people, plans, expectations. Before long, everything feels important, and when everything feels important, you lose the ability to tell what actually matters.
Simplicity is not about living a smaller life. It is about knowing what your life is built around and refusing to let everything else keep pulling you away from it. Jesus says one thing is necessary. That does not mean only one thing exists. It means there is a center, and everything else has to find its place around that center.
Most of us do not need more. We need less noise. Less inner clutter. Less pressure from things God never actually asked us to carry. Simplicity starts when you stop treating every demand like a command.
A simple life is not an empty life. It is a life that knows what belongs first.
Why this matters
If everything gets equal weight, you will stay scattered. But when your life is centered on God, lesser things stop controlling the whole picture.

What are you carrying right now simply because you never stopped to ask whether it belongs?
