Daily Journey: Day 22
God Is Patient With Us
“The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.”— Psalm 103:8 (ESV)
Many people struggle to trust God because they assume He is impatient.
Impatient with their failures.
Impatient with their slow growth.
Impatient with their inconsistency.
But Scripture reveals a God who is remarkably patient.
God’s patience does not mean indifference. It means commitment. He does not abandon His people when growth is slow or uneven. He stays.
God works with us where we actually are — not where we wish we were.
This patience flows from His character. God is not rushed, anxious, or reactive. He does not need immediate results to feel secure. His love is not threatened by our weakness.
This matters deeply for formation.
When we believe God is impatient, we hide. We perform. We rush change that hasn’t taken root. But when we trust His patience, honesty becomes possible.
God’s patience gives us space to repent without despair, to grow without panic, and to obey without fear.
Why This Matters
When we doubt God’s patience:
• shame increases
• growth feels fragile
• faith becomes exhausting
When we trust it:
• repentance deepens
• hope stabilizes
• perseverance grows
God’s patience is not passive.
It is purposeful love over time.
Reflection for Today
Where have I assumed God is impatient with me?
What might change if I trusted His steady love?
Process shapes freedom.
